Poppy Field

Claude Monet painted Klaprozenveld, in French called "Coquelicots," in 1873 and presented the work at the first impressionist exhibition in 1874.

The story

What do we know about this job?

Museum of ArtOrsay describes how Monet lived in Argenteuil after his return from England and found clear landscapes for painting in the open air. In Klaprozenveld red paint keys form a rhythm through the field. The two pairs of mother and child lay a diagonal through the composition; The woman with parasol and the child in the front are probably Camille and Jean Monet.
